Today our superb included excursion takes us to Bavaria and the lovely town of Füssen, situated at the southern end of the Romantic Road. You will have time at leisure to discover the medieval centre of this charming town located above the River Lech.
We then continue to the village of Hohenschwangau. Here you will have the opportunity to photograph Neuschwanstein, the fairy tale castle of Mad King Ludwig, (weather permitting). This romantic castle, upon which Walt Disney based Sleeping Beauty’s Palace, is one of Germany’s most popular images.
Please note that Christmas Eve in Austria and Germany is a traditional religious festival and in many areas is still celebrated as such. This may mean that facilities in towns, villages, and hotels may close early.
Merry Christmas! Celebrate with an unforgettable ride on the famous Glacier Express. We board the train in Chur, the oldest city in Switzerland, and travel through the magnificent scenery of the Swiss Alps to the charming ski resort of Andermatt.
Later this afternoon we return to the hotel for a Christmas evening turkey dinner. (Please note that the train journey may operate in reverse, from Andermatt to Chur).
Enjoy a day at leisure today, or why not join our optional excursion to the beautiful alpine towns of St. Anton and Lech?
